What happens to your address
You leave an address, we email you a link, and you’re on the list only if you press it. It’s used for the emails you asked for, and nothing else.
Who has it
It’s collected and looked after by Clermont Digital + The Maltman Lab. Ask anything about it at [email protected].
What it’s for
A confirmation email first, then one email when Tinfoil Hats? is out. Nothing else.
Where it’s kept
In Muster, the customer system we keep the list in. The emails go out through MailerSend, a third party that sends email for us.
If you don’t confirm
An address nobody confirms is deleted when its link runs out, 48 hours after the email goes. If the list is busy or paused, an address can wait a few days for its email first. To stop abuse, a one-way coded version of the address, and of your IP address, is kept for 30 days, and used for nothing else.
When you confirm
We keep the time you pressed the button, a one-way coded version of your IP address and your browser’s user agent, as the record that you said yes.
The emails
Once you’re on the list, each email records, through MailerSend, whether it was delivered and opened, and which of its links were clicked. An address whose email hard bounces, or that marks one as spam, comes off the list.
Leaving, and your details
Every email after the confirmation has a link to unsubscribe. Press it and you’re off. To see, correct or erase what’s held about you, email [email protected]. Erasing takes the address out for good, keeping only a record with no address in it.
This site
It counts visits with Google Analytics, which sets cookies, and Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn’t. Neither is given your email address.
